Speech Therapist

Are you looking for strengths-based speech therapy that will support your child to communicate authentically?

Hi! I’m Emily.

I’ve been a pediatric speech therapist for more than 14 years and I love my job! I believe that communication is one of the most personal things that we do as humans and that every individual has a right to communicate. My approach is relationship centered. I believe in strengths-based speech therapy, where we identify together what your child can already do well so we can work together to build new communication skills from those strengths.

I offer in-person sessions in the Austin area and virtual sessions to kids and teens throughout the state of Texas.

We can work together to help your child or teen:

  • Improve communication skills while supporting the development of a positive self-identity

  • Help your child communicate confidently, effectively and authentically

  • Reduce communication frustration for your child

  • Learn how to use alternative forms of communication such as pictures or high tech communication devices

  • Pronounce speech sounds for improved self-expression

How is speech therapy with Parade different?

  • Consistent access to a highly skilled speech therapist with 14 years of experience

  • Specialized training and experience in gestalt language processing and augmentative and alternative communication

  • Child-led approach that prioritizes your child’s sensory needs, preferences, interests and autonomy

  • Focus on seeking to understand the way your child thinks and learns to support their communication in the way that suits them best

  • Emily takes such care to create a relationally safe space for my son, understands who he is as a person, and not only affirms but delights in the way he shows up in the world. I would absolutely recommend Emily as a speech therapist. We are so lucky to have found someone who is so knowledgable, informed, and strengths-based. In her, you will find a therapist who meets your child with curiosity, authenticity, and delight. -E.B.

  • From my first consultation phone call with her, working with Emily has been a wonderful experience! She truly works with our daughter with a neurodiversity affirming approach. Emily's first evaluation was written from a strengths-based approach that represented our daughter so very well. Emily follows our child's lead, considers the holistic picture of our child, and respects her autonomy. -Julie W.

  • We can't thank Emily enough for her support and guidance as we've entered the world of gestalt language processing. She has been a beautiful support to my child and to me and I really appreciate her knowledge of gestalt language processing, and her neurodiversity-affirming approach. She is sensitive and kind and honors neurodiversity naturally. I would absolutely recommend her. -M.W.

  • Emily treats the child as the client. She really works with who she is helping and creates a true rapport. It's the personalized approach in knowing who my daughter is that has made all the difference. We have tried other speech therapists before as well and Emily is the best fit. She's invested in the outcome for my child. It is obvious how qualified Emily is with speech therapy. We additionally appreciate her ability to be a part of our 'village'. She has been such an asset in our lives through her care and support. -Darcy S.

Parade’s mission is to provide a safe, affirming space for children and teens to support authentic, meaningful communication rooted in connection.
